Manchester United eyeing blockbuster move for Thomas Muller

Manager Louis van Gaal has still not landed his "surprise" Manchester United signing, though rumours of a huge move for Bayern Munich striker Thomas Muller are showing no signs of disappearing.
According to Germany's Sport Bild, United made an €85 million (£60m) offer for Muller last week. Bayern seem determined to hold on to the 25-year-old forward, but United -- who believe they can force Muller into agitating for a move given the World Cup winner's apparent interest in an Old Trafford switch-- are not giving up without a fight.
Muller may be a necessity if Chelsea hijack United's long-winded move for Pedro -- according to the Daily Mail reports,  the Premier League champions want the Barcelona forward, with Roman Abramovich a keen admirer. The paper says United "remain firmly in pole position" for the Spain international, but that Chelsea will go "toe-to-toe" with the Red Devils for his signature.
Let the battle commence.
