Stoke City have completed the signing of Inter Milan winger Xherdan Shaqiri, just six months after he joined Roberto Mancini’s men from Bayern Munich.
However, Shaqiri’s move to the Allianz Arena failed to reap any rewards and despite reported interest from the Premier League, the powerful attacker moved to Italy in January.
It was a move which backfired for the 23-year-old, after he struggled to make an impression – thus attracting interest from England once again.
Stoke have confirmed that the fee is £12 million for Shaqiri to move to the Britannia stadium – a club record for the Potters.
Metro reported on Monday that Everton had agreed a fee of £13.4 million for Shaqiri, but the Swiss star seems to have opted against a move to Merseyside to link up with Mark Hughes.
Shaqiri’s move to Stoke does not come as much of a surprise, after the winger was pictured at the club’s stadium on Sunday watching on as they lost their first game of the season against Liverpool.
Shaqiri would have been pleased with his new side’s display, but they were beaten by a late Philippe Coutinho belter.
